You can download the current build of the 1.3 beta here:

http://www.log-expert.de/LogExpert_1_3_3545.zip

There's no help file and no updated doc in the download. For updated features see the V.1.3 preview thread.

Maybe your settings get lost if you decide to downgrade to 1.2 after trying 1.3. So think twice before trying the beta. But...

... We're using these beta versions since some months seriously at work. There are no "real" problems. :)

I posted a link to a new beta build into the Bug & Feature Request forum. It's not announced because I'm not sure if the reported bug is really fixed. But you can try the version. I use this version too.
http://www.log-expert.de/LogExpert_1_3_3560.zip

I'm currently updating the docs. Preparing for release.

Using the latest 1.3 BETA:

I'm not able to uncheck the persistence option "Save and restore filter and filter tabs". When I close and open LogExpert, then the option is checked again.

Using the latest BETA:

Uncheck "Automatically save persistence files (.lxp)" and change the file attribute of loaded lxp files to read-only. When closing LogExpert it complains about not being able to write to the lxp files.

Should it not leave the lxp alone when not wanting to automatically save persistence. Or does the setting mean something else ?

You're right. I think that's a bug :)
I'll check this, as well as your other issue.

This setting affects only the automatically created LXP files. If you manual load an LXP file "by hand", it's handled different.

But maybe your're right. A user may expect the LXPs not to be saved when this option is unchecked. I'll change this (I have it always enabled, anyway... :) )

There's a new build:
http://www.log-expert.de/LogExpert_1_3_3621.zip

Changes:

+ Bugfix: In the settings the option "Save and restore filter and tabs" couldn't be deselected
+ Bugfix: Deselecting "Automatically save persistence files" had no effect on manually loaded LXP files
+ Bugfix: "Follow tail" state wasn't restored correctly from LXP files when the file has grown meanwhile
+ Bugfix: Deleting the 'LogExpert' folder in the ApplicationData directory could crash LogExpert when closing the settings dialog.
+ Bugfix: Startup calls for plugins didn't work (new in 3614)
+ Bugfix: Multi threaded filter was stuck in endless loop when line count < thread count.
+ Plugins now will be loaded only once, even if using multiple LogExpert instances
+ MouseUp on tab close buttons now only closes the tab if the MouseDown was on the button too

This build also contains the final help file.
The SDK docs are not ready yet.

Hi Hagen,

Just installed the latest beta (no time before today), and I'm very pleased by some new stuff like:
Quote:
In edit mode the filter can be lauched with the marked text via context menu
Filters (search term and all other filter ettings) can be saved now and re-used later
Marked text (edit mode) can be added to temporary highlight entries via context menu.
    Highlight settings can be grouped
    Filter is now multi threaded

Thanx a bunch for this terrific tool!
